Building bridges for change
The challenge that occupies World Dynamics of Young People (WDYP) today is that of uniting young people in a perspective of change. Change in their dreams, but also change in their struggles..
Indeed, instead of letting young people dream every day of leaving, that is “fleeing” their country because they believe they can find elsewhere what the country has not given them, we must lead them to believe that they can get what they need from their country.
Also, instead of abandoning young people in their daily struggles for survival, we must teach young people to fight for their prosperity and that of the country. That is why the challenge is great, to unite young people to change the world. It is a dream. But this dream can become reality if we believe in it. If we believe that one day young people, both in cities and in the countryside, and also those of the diaspora, can come together to reflect on what they have in common; if they can come together to share what is special about each of them.
Our duty as WDYP is to work to establish these relationships, to build bridges of unity that will bring young people together, without complexes or prejudices. This dream is important to us. But it will only become a reality if the youth of Cameroon, of Africa and the world find and share reference points and values of humanity, virtues that will make them examples for the generations to come.
Since if today’s difficulties can be overcome, there is a good chance that tomorrow’s youth will have the assets to move on.
