OUR VALUES AND PRINCIPLES
Values and principles form the ongoing foundation of the management approach that determines the strategic direction of the administration and management of WDYP. As guiding sagacity, WDYP places people and human values above all else. Along with the mission, these values and principles impose themselves and apply to everyone better than rules, guiding, directing and framing our interventions and activities in the field.
What are our values?
Integrity: In order to change the world and alleviate all of humanity’s suffering, a new generation of leaders is needed. This is why WDYP considers the integrity of each of its members, partners and associates in all aspects of their relationships, in that personality and individual value determine the quality of the work, a question of honour.
Loyalty: WDYP attaches great importance to obeying the laws of honour and probity, a guarantee of trust and lasting collective integration.
Responsability: WDYP encourages and promotes the individual’s ability to make decisions, and the individual’s duty to be accountable for the resulting actions.
Transparency: All of WDYP’s efforts will only make sense if its actions are legible, intelligible and if there is a common understanding of commitments, roles and interests among all stakeholders.
Equity: WDYP works to promote moral and social values prescribing for the individual the respect of others in the supreme interest of safeguarding the individual and fundamental rights of each individual.
Equality: This value is a major aspiration in WDYP’s social policy. It seeks parity between men and women, and aims for the respect of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Non-violence: WDYP abstains from all forms of violence because it constitutes a negation of the other who is nevertheless a partner for life in the work of building a better community world.
What are our principles?
Interdependence: Each individual is a capital for humanity. We believe that reciprocity in the interactions between young people can transform social inequalities in the world – bringing about significant social, economic as well as political change and contributing to the development and redefinition of international relations.
Partnership: Each stakeholder in WDYP’s vision is independent and is the custodian of this vision, which he or she is responsible for developing. As such, each one is called upon to establish new relationships with other actors willing to participate in a common work, in a logic of exchange and sharing and not that of assistance.
Respect of otherness: WDYP affirms the need, within life and the social and political space, for an openness to difference, to the other. This affirmation of the right to be different is a source of complementarity and tolerance on which security, stability and peace between human beings depend.
Volunteering: WDYP operates on the basis of volunteering and supports the commitment of those young people who are determined to work differently to overcome the permanent and recurring circumstances of this world. The work within WDYP is characterized by a willingness to learn and discover, knowing that young people thereby gain experience and militant professionalism.
Absolute respect of the law: The political tradition demands that freedom is the goal of any society, but also the necessary condition for collective life. For WDYP, the submission of each and everyone to the law guarantees the improvement of relations and thus the living conditions of individuals and peoples.
