How is this logo to be read and its symbolism to be understood? Below you will find the description of all the symbols of WDYP, the colour system and the particular signs used within our organisation.
The new logo of WDYP is constituted of five (5) symbols and four (4) colours that show young people in action in a world for which they have a happy dream, to transform it into a place where there is harmony between people in search of purity of spirit.
At the first glance, the logo presents two young people (boy and girl in reference to gender) standing, outfit and overalls in green. The green, symbol of nature and vegetation, colour of hope and opportunity (luck), expresses the whole ideal that fuels those two artisans of the world.
With their two, in fact four arms put together to a bow open at the top, these young people carry a world of yellow colour, symbol of joy, radiance and feast to celebrate the innovations and the achievements in a disastrous world in moral decline, despite technical and scientific progresses. These yellow arms, open like this in the air or the sky, express joyfulness.
In that way, the silhouette of these two young people in one, standing with their arms raised to the sky, simultaneously express the journeys the youth needs to accomplish, the prayer he needs to dedicate to God the very merciful Allah, and the praise to give glory to the Almighty and Father Creator for the discoveries and achievements to come. It is from Him, in fact, that the necessary capacities and competences come to Change the world in yellow, taken together to the unique head of the two adolescents whose standing position forms a W to signify the English word “World”, which recalls the bilingualism of Cameroon, the country of origin of WDYP.
The circular white background surrounded by a frame in yellow and green, the signification of which was described in detail above, refers to the social harmony which facilitates life. Its white colour signifies neutrality, purity, cleanliness and perfection, senses and values towards which the desired change of the world is directed by a youth whose spirit is not yet corrupted, a youth whose mind is capable of resisting all kinds of tests and social, political, economic and cultural shocks. A youth ready to assume in respect of human and ecological values.
The blue has a double meaning. It is the symbol of a free youth who does not accept anymore the way in which public affaires are managed at different levels, community, national, regional, continental and global. The blue square likewise symbolises the dream of a pluralist inclusive society, democratic and without violence notwithstanding the conflicts that emerge.
Around this new logo WDYP will mobilize young people even more for the full realisation of the potential at the local level, the promotion of integrity and the development of a sense of national identity based on civic values and the law.
